Description

Newport Grammar School was originally in premises in Lugley Street Newport.

The Book of Remembrance for both World Wars is held at St Thomas's Church, having being placed there when the School closed.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL at NEWPORT,
ISLE OF WIGHT who fell in the two
World Wars 1914 - 18 and 1939 - 45
THIS BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
IS DEDICATED and their names herein
ENSHRINED that by the noble Sacrifice of
their lives they may LIVE AGAIN in the
minds of each new generation of Scholars
and inspire the SCHOOL perpetually with
THE HIGH COURAGE and SELFLESS DEVOTION
TO DUTY which they so well exemplified in their
