St James' Church is Grade II Listed. Since the War Memorial is sited within the curtilage, it is assumed that it is covered by the Listing.
 
Description

A stone cross, bearing names of WW I and WW II servicemen from East Cowes.

Unveiled by Lord Gort on 19 June 1920.

The WW II names were added in 1950, and the service of dedication and unveiling took place on 17th September 1950.

SEBERT ARNOLD LEGG No CWGC record Sebert Arnold Legg was born in East Cowes in 1895, and served as a Rifleman, London Regiment during WW I. He was invalided out in 1917, and died 24 October 1920; circumstances of death unknown.
