The aircraft took off at 22:55 hrs from RAF Metheringham to bomb a rail yard at Vitry, France. It crashed 2 km East of Bransles, Seine-et-Marne. All the crew were buried in a collective grave in the village Cemetery. Sergeant Dixon came from Cowes, Isle of Wight.
