Son of James William Sheppard and Florence Beatrice Sheppard (née Gatrell), of 6, Clematis Cottages, Upton Rd., Swanmore, Ryde, Isle of Wight.

Born 1894 St Helens. (Registered as Arthur William Sheppard).
