Son of Charlotte Gladdis (née Abbott), of 1, Lynton Villas, Carter Rd., Shanklin, Isle of Wight, and the late George Gladdis (died 1916).

Born : 1894 Whippingham, Isle of Wight.
  Census information :

1901 : George and Charlotte Gladdis, with their children including Albert aged 6, are at Beryl Cottages, Godshill. George Gladdis is a Cowman.

1911 : Albert Gladdis, aged 16, is boarding with the Coombs family at Railway Cottage, Dean Crossing, Whitwell, Isle of Wight. He is a General Farm labourer.

Casualty Details :

Died : 31 August 1915, aged 21, in the sinking of HMT Royal Edward.

GLADDIS - August 13th, through the sinking of H.M.S. Royal Edward, Pte. Albert Henry (Bert) Gladdis, 13th Hampshire Regiment, fourth son of George and Charlotte Gladdis, of Upper Appleford, Godshill, aged 21.
  Further information :

Albert Gladdis' nephew, his sister's son, Raymond John Western, died in WW II.
