Archibald John Hartnall, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Chamberlain Hartnall; husband of Katherine Sophia Hartnall, of "Bardsea", Yelfs Rd., Ryde, Isle of Wight.

Biography

Archibald John Hartnall was born in Ryde in 1875, his parents being John Chamberlain Hartnall and Isabella (nee Parnell).
He married Katherine Sophia Jackman in 1902; they had two children, James Inglis Hartnall born in Leicester in 1904, and Isabel Mary Hartnell born in Ryde in 1907.
The 1911 Census shows the family at The Colonnade, Lind street, Ryde, where Archibald Hartnall is described as a Printer and newspaper proprietor.

It is not known when Hartnall joined the Territorial Forces; he rose through the ranks :
