George Alfred Dennett was born in Sandown in 1895, the son of Arthur Pope Dennett and Frances Dennett (nee White).

Census 1901 : the family are at Brickfields Cottages, Totland.
Census 1911 : the family are at West Green, Sheepwash, Freshwater. George's occupation is given as telegraph messenger.

George Alfred Dennett served as Rifleman 2730 (later 331042) 1/8th Bn Hampshire Regiment (Isle of Wight Rifles). He was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
