Son of Ernest Albert Swane and Florence Matilda Swane (née Bright), of "Essiedene," Holland St., Chatswood, New South Wales, formerly of Isle of Wight.

Born : 1896, Newport, Isle of Wight.

Pte. B.H. Swane, Australian Infantry, formerly of Freshwater and Ryde, aged 21, was killed in action in France on May 23. Deceased was the son of Mr. E.A. Swane, formerly architect and surveyor, &c., of Newport, Freshwater, and Binstead, who emigrated some years ago.

  Further Information :

The AWM Circular gives Basil Swane's trade as Insurance Clerk. It also gives his mother's date of death (8 May 1928), and from 1930, his father's address as Acton Post Office, Canberra, F.C.T. [Federal Capital Territory].

The family emigrated to Canberra, Australia in 1912. See 1928 Electoral Rolls for Canberra.

Ermest Albert Swane died on 2 April 1944 as a result of being struck by a truck in Manly, New South Wales.
