- Biography -
- Willis Robert Stroud -

Name : Willis Robert Stroud

Son of : Frederick William Stroud and Mary Jane Stroud (née Dyer) of 15, Victoria Crescent, High Park, Ryde, Isle of Wight.

Born : 1883, St Helens, Isle of Wight. Baptised St Helens (parish) 24 Oct 1884.

The family emigrated to New Zealand sometime after 1901 but no entries for them have been confirmed on passenger lists. The New Zealand Cenotaph records for the Stroud family show them resident at 23 Newton Road, Auckland, New Zealand, and Willis Stroud's occupation as Window Cleaner.

It appears that Frederick and Mary Stroud returned to the Isle of Wight.
  Census information :

1891 : Mary Stroud, with her children including Willis aged 8, are at St Helens Green, St Helens, Ryde. She is shown as a Mariner's wife, so presumably Frederick Stroud was at sea at the time of the Census.

1901 : Frederick and Mary Stroud, with their children including Willis aged 18, are at St Helens Green, St Helens, Ryde. Frederick Stroud is a Mariner.
