Son of : William Simmonds (died 1908) and Charlotte Ann Simmonds (née Woolcock), of 104, Hunnyhill, Newport, Isle of Wight.

Born : 1893, Newport.
  Census information :

1901 : William and Charlotte Simmmonds, with their children including Arthur aged 7, are at 3, South View Cottage, Parkhurst. William Simmonds is a Warder (Convict Service).

1911 : Charlotte Simmonds, widow, with her children including Arthur aged 17, is at 104, Hunnyhill, Newport, Isle of Wight. Arthur Simmonds is an Apprentice Boiler Maker.

  Service Details :

Rifleman 736 Arthur James Simmonds, 1/8th Bn., Hampshire Regiment, (Isle of Wight Rifles).

Casualty Details :

Died : 12 August 1915 aged 22.

Commemorated at : Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
