Born 1897 Ryde, Isle of Wight.

1901 : Charles George Denham, aged 3, is with his grandparents Charles and Mary Lane, at Whitefield, Ashey. Caroline Denham, widow, is at The Abode, Buckingham Road, Ryde, working as a Cook (domestic).

1911 : Charles George Denham, aged 13 is with his mother and stepfather, George Henry Vessey, at Knighton Water Works. Charles is a general farm labourer.
