Gallant Young Islander Dead.

Official news has just been received at Newport from the Commonwealth of Australia, Military Records' branch, of the death of Private Alfred Chiverton, of the 20th Battalion Australian Imperial Forces, who has been suffering from dysentery, and died aboard the hospital ship Aquitania on September 19th. The deceased is the youngest brother of Mr. Geo. Chiverton, of Newport. He went to Australia nine years ago, settling at Walgett, N.S.W., where he was successful in business. Soon after the outbreak of war the deceased joined the Australian Imperial Force. He was 31 years of age, and a bachelor. The sad intelligence was conveyed through the High Commissioner "with deep regret," the communication being addressed to his mother.
