Son of : Mrs Hilda May Woodmore (née Kirby) of 2 Catherine Terrace, Newport.

Born : 30 January 1919, Newport. (Registered as Geoffrey Kirby). Assumed that his father was Walter Charles Woodmore who married Hilda May Kirby in 1920.

Geoffrey Woodmore was aboard H.M.S. Southsea, a former Southern Railways Isle of Wight paddlesteamer on service as a minesweeper which hit a mine, killing seven of her crew. The ship was beached and abandoned between Herd Point and South Shields Pier in North East England. Her remains can still be seen at low tide.
