SAD NEWS. - We regret to record the death of L/A/C. E.G. Monk, R.A.F., [*] which occurred whilst he was a prisoner of war in the hands of the Japanese. He was the son of Mrs. E. Monk and the late Mr. Monk, of Glenberg, St. John's Road. The circumstances are particularly sad since he went away two years ago no news has been received until fifteen weeks ago. Then came the intimation that he was a prisoner of war, having been captured, it is assumed at the fall of Singapore. On Friday last the sad news of his death came to hand. The sympathy naturally extended to the sorrowing mother is intensified by the fact that she is at present in hospital. Her son was 29 years of age.

[*] It appears that the newspaper has given his name incorrectly
