Under the heading "Fallen Officer," The Times on Tuesday recorded the following: - Lunt, Major Ralph Marshall, Royal Corps of Signals, died of wounds received in an ambush by tribesmen in the North-West Frontier Province, India, in February. While serving in the ranks of the Territorial Force he saw service in the last war on the Western Front, where he was wounded. He received his commission in 1916 and was promoted Lieutenant in the Army in March, 1918. He was awarded the French War Cross. He transferred to the Indian Army later in the year and was promoted captain in 1921 and major in 1937. He leaves a widow, who lives at St. Lawrence, Isle of Wight.
