Name : Charles James.

Son of George William James and Elizabeth James of Arreton. Husband of Elizabeth A. James, of Orangeville, Ontario, Canada.
Born 1 August 1890, Arreton.

His brother Percy James died while serving with the Royal Navy in WW I.

Charles James married Elizabeth A Benbow in Southwark in 1919. They had three children in England : Gwendoline D (1920), Barbara Joan (1921) and Edna Patricia (1922). The family emigrated to Canada in 1925 (s.s. Minnedosa, Liverpool to Montreal and Quebec). Charles James was described as a Farmer, and their last address was c/o the Church Army, London, so it may be that they had an assisted passage.

1901 : George William and Elizabeth James, with their family including Charley, are at Arreton. George James is a carter on farm.

1911 : Charles James is a Stoker 1 cl with the Royal Navy in Portsmouth.
