37 Sqn was assigned to operations based at desert landing ground No 106, flying missions between Libya, Sicily and Southern Italy. This aircraft was on operations over Greece when it was shot down. The crew are buried in collective grave 16 C 9 at Suda Bay War Cemetery.

Flg/Off Bolton is named on the War Memorial at Totland Bay, Isle of Wight. His connection with the town is not known.
