The aircraft took off from RAF Downham Market at 20.55 hrs for minelaying operations, but was shot down by a night fighter of 3/NJ3 flown by Pilot Uffz. Berg, and crashed at 00.56 hrs at Tareup in Denmark. Flg/Off Wheelhouse and Sgt Bolton were buried at Bispeberg Cemetery, Copenhagen. The remaining crew members are buried in a collective grave at Reerslev Church in Denmark.
