ABLE SEAMAN WILLIAM YOUNG served in the Royal Navy and was the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Richard Young late of the "Fighting Cocks" at Hale Common. He perished in H.M. Submarine E.3 which was torpedoed by the German submarine U.27 off Borkum in the North Sea on 19th October 1914. (*)

Son of Richard and Fanny Young, of 1, Lilac Cottage, Shide, Newport, Isle of Wight. Native of Arreton, Isle of Wight.
