RIFLEMAN CHARLES SMITH lived at No. 1 The Square, Newchurch and was yet another
of the men of Newchurch Parish serving with the Isle of Wight Rifles to be
killed at the Battle of Gaza on or about 19th April 1917.
CWGC record ... Both CWGC and "Soldiers Died in the Great War" give him as a Serjeant, not a Rifleman. |
