The aircraft took off from RAF North Luffenham for Ops on Koln, but crashed into the sea off the coast of Holland. Only P/O Pratt's body was washed ashore. The other crew members are commemorated at the Runnymede Air Forces Memorial.

Frank Pratt had been a pupil at Bembridge School.
