Description

A vitreous enamel plaque erected to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, 1897. The original marble plaque was erected in 1897 and remained in place until 2005. The restored version of the plaque contained errors and omissions and was quickly eroded by the elements.

The new plaque should withstand the elements better and was commissioned by the Town Improvements Committee of Cowes Town Council.
