Francis Bygott was the nephew of the Rev Charles S Towle. The Rev Towle was at some point the incumbent of St Clement's Church in Bournemouth. He died in 1908. It is presumed that his widow then moved to Freshwater, Isle of Wight, and that the memorial plaques were placed in St Agnes' Church by family or friends.
